Why have campaign ads from the 1960 all the way up to the present maintained a common theme of questioning the opposition’s ability to lead this country instead of bringing a more positive approach to the campaign and election? How does this divisive trend effect the public perception of both candidates and their faith in the next president regardless of who it is? What do the parallels between the attacks on Richard Nixon by John Kennedy and the attacks on Barack Obama by John McCain imply about the United States?

How did the candidates from the elections of 1960 and 1980 use the issue of peace to their advantage and how does this differ from the way the candidates use the issue of peace in the current election?

How does the use of children and families in presidential campaign ads appeal to the general public? How do the commercials from the 1956, 1968, 1988, and 2008 elections portray the nominees in a way that convinces the audience that their concern is for the families of America?
